Anonymous - The Great September Comet
On a loose album page with two contemporary newspaper accounts from the London Times of the comet. Although the comet was named the Great September Comet, it grew in intensity for five weeks. The date on this photograph is October 28, 1882. The photograph is rather spectacular and rare with its view of shadowy rooftops framing the bottom of the picture of the comet, which dominates the dark sky
